Wikimania Day 2: Ward Cunningham Interview
This morning Liam Wyatt and Andrew Lih were able to catch up with Ward Cunningham, the creator of the very first wiki, and talk to him about about his ideas on the meaning and role of the wiki, the Wikimania 2007 conference, and his current projects. It makes for interesting listening.
Update: The MP3 was corrupted when uploaded. I’m (slowly) re-uploading the file now, it should work fine once this is completed in a few minutes.

I think there’s something wrong with the mp3, it cuts off after 6 minutes when streamed, and sounded garbled when downloaded. Use the ogg if you can.

I wanted to say that I find the WikipediaWeekly team are doing a great job in providing a feeling of being there for those who are not there.

It seems like I should know this, or be able to figure it out, but I fail…..how is WikipediaWeekly audio content licensed? I want to cut-out and re-use about 5 minutes of the discussion with Ward Cunningham.

John, the problem isn’t that you fail, it’s that *we* fail.
Because frankly, we don’t know how this content is to be licensed, since we’ve never had the chance to sit down and discuss it.
I’m going to go out on a limb and say that it’s dual-licensed under the GFDL and Creative Commons, since that’s what our logo is under. So, go ahead and use the content.

Thanks, David. I figured the reply would be along these lines so I did not wait before re-using the audio. I’m working with a derivative media file at Wikiversity. I enjoyed Ward’s comments on moving beyond words towards collaborative creation of video.

It’s dual GFCL and CC-Attrib AFIAK (we had a notice up but it looks like the new template removed it from the sidebar, I’ll re-add it in.
